What it is

Carta21 produces geopolitical MAP, TIMELINE, and POWER_INDEX insights from text or a news URL. This connector does not charge a card inside Claude.

After it is in the Directory

1. In Claude open Customize → Connectors (or the Connectors Directory).
2. Find Carta21 and Connect.
3. Use “Sign in when needed.” Taste works first; Allow when you run a real insight.
4. If asked for an OAuth client, use Claude’s published identity. Leave secrets empty.

Three layers

Taste — what_is_carta21, demo_insight, get_upgrade_link. No account. No live job.

Connector Trial — on Allow, email + Allow Connector Trial. Five real insights. One trial per email. No live MAP_IMAGE. Exhausted email is refused; Join on the website.

Paid — subscribe at carta21.com, Connect again, Use my Carta21 account (email and password). Claude uses website quota. Trial jobs are not merged. Email without a password is not a paid login.

Using tools

1. Ask for an insight (text or URL).
2. Create returns a reqId quickly; the job is async.
3. Poll get_insight_request until status is not pending.
4. Call get_insight_artifacts. Open every map URL in full, including the query string. The last map is the annotated interactive MAP. Links expire.

Trial creates may be spaced (about 10 minutes on the same trial).

Payment

get_upgrade_link returns https://carta21.com/. Subscribe there, then Connect again with the paid form.
